1) Regularly clean the slats
The simplest way to clean the slats is to wipe clean with a clean wet cloth. If you have a washable fabric these can be soaked in the bath. Also remember to dust or hoover slats once a month using a clean, curtain hoover attachment.
2) Make sure the track operates smoothly
Taking care of your Vertical track will make your blinds last for years. If you re-decorate you can simply change the slats if your track is in good working order. Add a little WD40 or Vaseline on runners – be sure to take the slats off before application.
3) Replace broken hangers, weights and chains
One sure way to make your Vertical Blind look great is to replace any broken hangers (hooks), weights (the weights at the bottom of the slats) and chains (the chains that connect to the weights at the bottom of the slats). Most blind retailers should have these spare parts for sale.
4) We do not recommend putting the slats in a washing machine
Some fabrics are machine washable although we suggest you soak the slats in tepid water in the bath with a little bit of detergent or soda crystals. Remember when hanging the slats back up they should be slightly damp. Do not dry out on the radiator, this will damage the fabric
5) Take care when operating the blinds
Simple yet effective when opening make sure slats are turned to fully open position before drawing, i.e. the slats should be at 90 degrees to the window
N.B. When you order blinds always ask for a couple of extra slats – most Companies will supply these at no extra cost
